Today was Izabella second pageant (Imperial Majesties). She won 1st place in Beauty, 1st place in Most Photogenic, 1st place in Prettiest Eyes, 1st place in Prettiest Hair, and 1st place in Best Outfit (Outfit of Choice). It was nice that she won these awards, but I have to say - I feel like we saw the *ugly* side of pageants today. I have decided not to enter Izabella in any pageants from now on unless they specifically state "natural only."
The last pageant we attended was a Natural Pageant, meaning there was no makeup allowed, no rhinestones, no fake eyelashes, no fake hair extensions, no touched up glamour photos, etc. That pageant was so sweet and innocent. All the girls wore their sunday best and everyone looked beautiful. This pageant happened to be one of those cut-throat pageants were 2 year olds were wearing hair extensions or add-ons, fake eyelashes, and full glitz. I saw one mother using an eyelash curler on a TWO YEAR OLD! It was all too much for me. Seeing a 3 year old in a sexy outfit was appalling, in my opinion.
So, while I don't mind entering Izabella in those natural pageants (like My Royal Crown), I am not entering her in anymore of these unrestricted pageants.
But, she did well. She looked as gorgeous as always.Comments:Stacie: Happy Mother's Day!Add a comment:

My boys start pre-preschool today. I signed the boys up for a program that starts today and runs for 8 weeks. It's a program that our EI person, Crystal, runs. She had mentioned to me that it will be helpful to introduce the boys to other kids their age, considering they aren't in daycare and only play with each other (plus Richie, my nephew). So, they start today!
They go from 10 am - 12 noon. They will have crafttime, playtime, song & snack and then home.
I hope it goes well. Evan is quite the social butterfly, so I know he'll be fine. But Aidan worries me. He is the shy one that typically runs in a corner and hides from everyone. It usually takes him about 30 minutes to warm up to people. Hopefully this will be good for him.
Have fun boys!Comments:Sheila: Krysia- I think it will be great for both of them- good luck!Add a comment:

Izabella has a double ear infection & an eye infection. :(
Last night (Friday), we went out to dinner for TJ's birthday. I took one look at Izabella and KNEW something was wrong with her. Her eyes told it all. So first thing Saturday morning I called our Pediatrician and asked for an appt. as soon as possible. They got me in immediately. I wasn't quite sure if it was a wasted trip, as she seemed *Better* on Saturday morning, but I decided to take her nonetheless.
Our Pediatrician could not believe she was so happy and smiley! After he told me she has a double ear infection and an eye infection, he also pointed out that she has 4 teeth about to pop any day (2 more on top and 2 more on bottom). He couldn't believe how smiley and giggly she was with all the pain she is in.
Poor little Bellaroo. She is such a strong and good dispositioned baby.
I filled her prescriptions immediately and hope she is on the mend soon.Comments:Add a comment:

Bella competed in her first-ever Beauty Pageant today, and she won Queen! She won 1st Place (Queen) in Beauty for her age group (0-14 months)! It was so exciting! Izabella also won Sweetest Smile, Prettiest Hair, & Best Personality in her age group, too (0-14 months). Lastly, she won Overall Photogenic amont all contestants in the pageant (0-12 years of age). We were so surprised! I have always thought she was adorable, of couse, but I just didn't expect her to take home so many ribbons and awards - and definitely didn't expect 1st Place (Queen) and Overall Photogenic.
We had a lot of fun today. The Pageant couldn't have been nicer. It wasn't what a lot of people think when they think of "Pageants," either. There was no makeup, no rhinestones, no hair extensions/wigs, no fake eyelashes, etc. It was more of a natural competition.
Grandma, Grandpa, Izabella and I went together, and we had the best time. Grandma and Grandpa were so proud. I was totally SHOCKED, but very happy.
Check out the pictures in the Spring Pageant Album. Also, be looking on the Pageant website for pictures in their Photo Album. The website address: www.myroyalcrown.comComments:Add a comment:

I got the Camera of her dreams this week. Me and my dad are going to really try to do some "better than amateur photography" (if that's what you want to call it). We ordered a set of studio lights, back drops, a new Nikon digital camera & lens. I also ordered some digital backdrops and some props.
We can't wait to get started!Comments:Add a comment:

"If a drug could reduce breast cancer by 42% in our country, we would be promoting it. If the drug was used for more than 24 months, breast cancer would be reduced by 54%. Of those women who use this drug, most quit its use within 4 to 6 months. Those women in our country who average 2.5 children and who use this drug for 6 additional months than is customary could prevent 25,000 breast cancers each year; using the drug for 12 additional months could prevent 50,000 breast cancers each year. This drug has a wonderful impact upon the health of women. This "drug" is BREASTFEEDING!!!!
This information is based on 47 studies of almost 150,000 women in 30 countries ( The Lancet, July 20, 2002). "Comments:Sheila H: Gosh- I had no idea! thanks for the education Krysia!I need to share this.....Stacie: Too true.Add a comment:

Happy 1st Birthday Carson!!!!!
I remember this day so clearly. Getting those phone calls all week because Melissa's blood pressure was up so high, but her protein/urine screenings kept coming up good. And finally they induced her. I was at work, got the call and then rushed over there on my lunch break. I was approx 16 weeks pregnant.
Happy Birthday dear little boy!

Guess who has 4 teeth now? Izabella! She got her 2nd big, upper tooth today. Poor little sweetie.
She is also TRYING to crawl. She is now up on her hands and knees trying to push off. My little princess is growing way too fast.
Izabella LOVES the Jumperoo now. She jumps all over the place. I typically don't put her in those play devices too often (the exersaucer, jumperoo, etc.), but today we did and she went to town jumping!Comments:Add a comment:
