Guess who got her 1st Big (top) tooth? Izabella-rella, that's who!
I noticed her top gums have been so red and swollen for the past few weeks, so I knew it was going to be any day now that her big, top tooth would break through. Mom called yesterday and said she thought she saw it. Sure enough, when I felt it last night, it had popped completely through!
Poor Izabella. On top of her just recovering from an ear infection, she also has a new, big toofer! And poor Mommy. I shutter to think about the pain these top teeth can bring to nursing. OUCH!Comments:Add a comment:

I can't WAIT for Summer. I am so sick and tired of my kids being sick. :( Today I had to take Izabella to the Pediatrician. After a long weekend of suffering with a virus (cold), she now has a double ear infection ~ her first ever. Evan and Aidan have been sick, too. I had to take Evan to the Pediatrician's office on Friday due to his fever, vomiting, wheezing and stuffy nose. Aidan has been suffering, just not as bad as Evan (not the asthma problems). My poor kids. Please send us get-well-soon vibes. I want healthy, happy babies!!!
Thanks Dad - for helping me out with the Pediatrician visits. Thanks to my dad, I don't have to miss more than a lunch hour at work. He bundles my kids up, drives them to the Pediatrician's office, and I meet them there. I don't know what I'd do without my parent's help.Comments:Add a comment:

Aidan drank a bottle of breastmilk! There was about 2-3 oz. leftover from a 5 oz. bottle that Izabella didn't want on Friday from when my mom fed her. Mom left and I forgot to do anything with the bottle. Aidan was being quiet, so I turned to see what he was doing - he was CHUGGING that bottle of breastmilk! :)
What surprises me the most is the reaction I get when I tell people that story. I usually get the "gross" facial expression with a "Oh gosh, I guess he just didn't know....." My breastmilk isn't poison! It's the best thing for him. I smiled when I saw him drinking it.
Why is it great for Izabella but not good for my 2 year olds? The World Health Organization now recommends breastfeeding until age 2. What is wrong with our society? Hmmmm.....Comments:Cherae: In other countries the breast feed to 3 1/2. Now you know why other kids around the world are smarter then the ones here in the US.Add a comment:

Izabella’s 6 month Pediatric appt. went well. (She is actually 6 mo. 1 week)
Weight: 16 lbs. 0 oz. (43rd percentile)
Length: 25 ¼” (24th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.25” (80th percentile)
Our Pediatrician said she is on the small side for her age, but is height and weight proportionate. She’s a short little fattie! ;) He saw that she is sitting and babbling. She is very healthy both physically and developmentally.
She has 2 teeth now, and our Pediatrician said he wants her on 3 meals a day. Not solitary vegetable meals, either. He wants her to have a variety with each meal. Oatmeal and fruit for breakfast; Green beans, squash and a fruit for lunch, etc. He also said to start feeding her mashed table foods: mashed potatoes, mashed peas, yogurt (adult foods). I told him how she already eats adult foods. She has grabbed peas and bread off my plate before and actually ate them - chewed them and swallowed them. I was just afraid to let her have them. Our Pediatrician said to go ahead with whatever she is comfortable eating. I didn’t tell him that I have let her eat several crackers and some veggie puffs. She just acts so interested in food. He also told me not to both with the vitamins, which a different Pediatrician in the group told me to start at 6 months. Good thing, Izabella refused the breastmilk/vitamin combo anyway.
I am still breastfeeding and plan to until she as AT LEAST 1 year, preferably 18 months old. I am really proud that breastfeeding continues to go well.
I told the Pediatrician how clingy Izabella is to me. She refuses to let anyone else hold her if I am in the room. She does ok with my mom during the day, but if I am there, you can forget it. I am not complaining by any means. I love the close bond that I share with Izabella (something I attribute to breastfeeding & cosleeping). Izabella and I have an extra special bond, and I would like to keep it that way for as long as possible. Our Pediatrician explained that this is a phase and eventually she will open up to more people. He did explain to me and my dad (who brought Izabella to the Drs. appt for me) how adults who aren’t me should approach her. Maybe that will help. Slawek calls her my “satellite.”
Our next Pediatric appt. is in 3 months (when she will be 9 months). Can someone slow down the time for me? She is getting so big.
PS. Funny story - My dad is the one who met me with Izabella at the Pediatrician's office. While we were sitting there, the nurse came out to get another child. She said, "Marco?" My Dad immediately yelled, "Polo!" I cracked up! Not only did he get some mean looks from Marco's mom, but the nurse rolled her eyes as well. It was hard for me to contain my laugher!!

Last night Aidan was playing with a Vtech toy that Santa brought him for Christmas and he looked at me and said, "Ambulance, Dial 911 for emergencies." I about hit the floor! I can't believe he knows how to SAY that! Of course he doesn't know what any of it means, but it's amazing that he can speak that way!
Evan is doing great with his speech too. They both amaze us every day with their sentences now. Evan walks around saying "Peekaboo, I see you Mommy."
Unfortunately, with their toddlerhood comes challenges, too. Evan is having difficulty sharing toys with his brother and sister. He has spent quite a few moments in time out lately. But, he'll learn.Comments:Add a comment:
