Happy 10 months old, Evan & Aidan!
Aidan is standing up on his own now. Grandma just called me and said Aidan is crawling over to his Leap Frog Learning Table and standing up to play on it. I just can't believe it! My boo boo is growing up.
Evan will be standing up before we know it! He'll figure it out!Comments:Add a comment:

Evan and Aidan are PROS at crawling. They are getting around and into everything. It's so sweet!

Scratch that last post about Aidan army crawling - he is on all fours, crawling all over the place now. He's into everything. His favorite things to crawl after: vents & cords. He's on a mission (to get into everything) and he's very independent. He will let you know when he wants to get down on the floor and play (he will try to dive bomb off your lap!)
Evan is still crawling around, too, but not he's not as fast (or interested in it) as Aidan. His favorite thing is picking pieces of lint or foreign objects off the carpet. He also loves playing with our drawer pulls on our dressers.Comments:Add a comment:

Both Evan and Aidan are really crawling and cruising around the house now. Evan is really crawling on his hands and knees and Aidan army crawls everywhere. It's amazing how fast they are. It takes on a new meaning of the phrase, "Watch him!" They get away from me faster than I like!

I started my new job at Prasco today. So far, I love it. The atmostphere is very laid back and people seem to genuinely care about each other. Prasco also works very closely with the Matthew 25 Ministries (an international humanitarian relief organization) ~ www.m25m.org. I am proud to say I signed up to volunteer my time for 2 hours during the work week (on company time).

We took Evan to Children's Hospital and had his X-rays of his lungs taken. Dr. Heaton just called and said the results were good. The X-rays show Evan does not have pneumonia and he doesn't have any obstructions in his lungs. He is being treated for asthma. We will continue through the weekend with breathing treatments (albuteral & pulmacort) every 6 hours and starting Monday he will go to twice daily breathing treatments.

Today was Evan and Aidan's 9 month well-baby appointment, and unfortunately it didn't quite go according to plan. In summary, Evan has asthma and we have to take him to Children's Hospital tonight for some x-rays and he will also have to undergo several breathing treatments per day through a nebulizer; and Aidan's hemoglobin count came back at 10.1, meaning he is anemic/iron deficient and will be on iron drops for the next 2 months at minimum.
The detail.....
I have been saying for 2 months now that Evan has asthma. He wheezes and coughs constantly, especially after he has been active (jumping in the jump-a-roo, etc.) Slawek and I have even taken him to the Pediatrician once just because we thought he had asthma. I was told by the 1st Pediatrician that #1, he didn't hear any wheezing and #2, he wouldn't treat a baby for asthma at this age. He called Evan a "happy wheezer." I took Evan again to the Pediatrician last Saturday and a different Pediatrician said she heard "no wheezing." Well, today, the 3rd Pediatrician actually heard Evan coughing from the hallway and asked me about his "asthma cough." I explained that I have thought for 2 months that Evan has asthma (as does everyone else in my family that hears him breathe and wheeze), and Dr. Heaton agreed. You could even tell by looking at little Evan's rib cage and stomach muscles that he was overexerting himself just to get air into his lungs. I sat and held Evan while he went through 2 breathing treatments (pulmacort) through the nebulizer. We were also sent home with a nebulizer. For the next 48 hours, we have to give Evan an albuterol breathing treatment every 6 hours. And for the next 2 weeks we have to give him a pulmacort breathing treatment twice a day. This should be real fun, he didn't quite enjoy having that face mask strapped to his face. Grandma and I sang "rock-a-bye Evan" until we were blue in the face and needed a breathing treatment ourselves. Evan got so upset, the poor thing, that he ended up puking all over me (which is nice because I had to come back to work, stinky shirt and all). Evan's hemoglobin count came back excellent, so he has a sufficient amount of iron in his blood stream.
Aidan's hemoglobin test came back too low (10.1), meaning he is iron deficient. He will go on iron drops for at least 2 months minimum. He will be rechecked after 1 month and they are looking for his hemoglobin level to be at least 1 point higher (11.1). Dr. Heaton wouldn't go into details on what would happen if his hemoglobin came back lower than 11.1 in a month, so we'll just hope and pray that it jumps up where it should be.
Today has been an exhausting day. I feel really guilty because I am sitting here at work, knowing that Evan and Aidan need me to come home. Grandma said they were happily singing/babbling in the car on the way home, so these feelings are coming totally from me, but still. I should have gone home with them and not come back to work.
Evan's Stats:
Weight: 17 lbs. 15 oz (10th percentile)
Length: 27 3/4" long (25-50th percentile)
Head circ: 18" (50-75th percentile)
Aidan's Stats:
Weight: 18 lbs. 15 oz (25th percentile)
Length: 29 1/2" long (75-90th percentile)
Head circ: 18 1/4" (75th percentile)Comments:Add a comment:

Today I took Evan & Aidan to Portrait Innovations in order to have their 9 month portraits taken. I had such a wonderful experience at that studio, I will definitely be back. Check out the new album I added of most the photos they took (>70 photos). Unfortunately, the disk I have is unedited/uncropped... so some of the photos here are too far away, or there is a hand in them that was edited out, or you can even see me on the side of the photo! The printed copies were all edited and look perfect.
We are spending this holiday weekend unpacking and getting settled. Things are really starting to shape up! The worst part of our house right now is our finished basement. It looks like a tornado of boxes hit down there. Oh well, we have the rest of our lives to get unpacked and settled in. We love this house and neighborhood!!
Happy Labor Day to all!
PS. I turned in my 2-week notice at the Enquirer. I will start working for Prasco on 9/15/05.Comments:Add a comment:

I took Evan to the Pediatrician today. He has been feeling sooo sick (snotty nose, horrible cough). He has a sinus infection. He will get better now. Oh, and he weighs a whopping 18 lbs. 3 oz!! Awesome news!
