A funny story about life with our 2 rascals:
Yesterday I was feeding Evan & Aidan sweet potatoes. I guess I overfed Aidan (Mistake #1) and he decided he didn’t want anymore. He ended up “geiser puking his entire stomach contents of milk & sweet potatoes all over me and him. He needed a bath, and so did I! I scooped Aidan up in a towel (clothes & all) and we headed for the bathroom. I decided to go ahead and get Evan and give both the boys a bath together (in the bathtub in their slings). I stripped Evan down and sat him down on my lap. Mistake #2, literally. He did a massive poop all over my leg and ½ of my shorts. By this time, I was rancid. My upper body was covered in Aidan’s puke and my lower body was covered in Evan’s poop. Aidan was already waiting in the bath sling in the tub, so I sat Evan down in the tub with him. I joined them fully clothed, as I was a mess. I reached down to wash Aidan, only to realize he had also decided to take a massive poop in the bath. I spent the next 10 minutes fishing out baby poop and scrambling to get the boys out of the dirty water. They ended up getting another, more sanitary bath in the sink. Mommy got a bath a little bit later.
That’s my story of the day. I hope to never relive it.Comments:Add a comment:

6 months, 3 weeks, 2 days. That's exactly how long it has taken to clear up the $331,261.15 in Hospital, Neonatology and Perinatology bills that were incurred from Evan and Aidan's premature delivery and NICU stay. I have been on the phone with our health insurance or hospital billing representatives AT LEAST once a week since their birth - trying desperately to get our insurance to pay what was owed to the hospital and doctors. The problem ~ United Healthcare codes multiple births as "newborn" (meaning 1 baby) and all charges that were filed for Evan and Aidan were coded as one baby; therefore, Evan's charges were all paid and Aidan's charges were all rejected stating "duplicate charge." We were told this happens (with United Healthcare at least) with all multiple births and takes 6 months to even 3 years to clear up. A Good Samaritan Hospital billing clerk told me that she has some multiple births where the kids are in preschool that she is still working on.
I am very happy and proud to say - we are all cleared up. Thanks to my persistent calling, all the bills have been paid and the hospital received their final payment (Aidan's $100,000 NICU room and board charge) just this week.
Thank God. It's been exhausting to deal with.Comments:Add a comment:

Update: Aidan is trying desperately to suck his thumb now. It's like he just realized that his thumb fits ever-so-neatly into his mouth and is always available. We are doing everything we can to keep him from sucking his thumb and becoming attached to it, so we quickly take his thumb out and insert pacifier. So far, it seems to be working. If it comes down to it, we will put some socks over his hands. A pacifier is much easier to take away than a thumb, which is attached at the hand!
Evan LOVES his Jumperoo. I wish you could see what a maniac jumper he is in that thing. It's amazing. He burns the carpet up. I looked down at his feet this morning (after he had been jumping away for a while) and saw balls of our wool rug around his feet. It's hilarious. One day he will love watching this on video.
Yesterday me and my mom (Grandma) took Evan, Aidan and cousin Richie to the park. Everyone had a wonderful time. Evan and Aidan fit perfectly into one of those toddler swings, back-to-back. They have 2 sets of leg holes. It's so sweet watching them giggle and smile. I took tons of photos.
We are going back to the Lake (Norris) this weekend. We enjoyed the last time we went so much, we decided to go again. It is supposed to be 90's+ so hopefully the water is even warmer than the last time we went (2 weeks ago).
Mommy's still pumping away. While I did manage to cut out one evening pumping session, I am still pumping 6 times a day. We are more than 1/2 way through our frozen supply (which I mix 50% frozen and 50% fresh breastmilk in their bottles currently). I think once that is out, I will start mixing the fresh with formula and gradually ween them onto formula 100%. By that time, they may be 1 year old and drinking whole milk! Oh well!!Comments:Add a comment:

We are back from Norris Lake. We all had a wonderful time, and everyone (except Daddy) managed to avoid any major sunburns.
Evan and Aidan both enjoyed the Lake. They both swam and seemed to be okay with it. On Sunday, they both enjoyed the water; but on Monday, Aidan protested immediately when we dropped him in his little car floaty. Evan (who Grandpa now calls his "tree climber") LOVED the water. He never cried, never protested.
All in all, we had a wonderful time. Daddy and I hope that one day, maybe next year, we can buy a boat of our own!Comments:Add a comment:

Evan & Aidan, it was 1-year ago today that we found out the miraculous news that we were pregnant with TWINS! We saw both your beating hearts on that ultrasound, something your father and I will never forget. I remember lying there on the table when Dr. Scheiber came over to give me a hug. I was crying for joy - in total amazement of what God had given us.... a family.
We love you both, Evan & Aidan.Comments:Add a comment:

6 Month well-baby visit:
Aidan:
16 lbs. 0 oz. - 25th percentile
26.25" long - 50th percentile
17.5" head circumference - 50-75th percentile
Evan:
14 lbs. 3 oz. - 5th percentile
25" long - 10th percentile
17" head circumference - 25-50th percentile
I asked the Dr. how both of them are doing *developmentally*, and he said they are right where they should be. The both can sit up for a few seconds and then they bobble over, they grab and clasp things with both their hands and bring them to their mouths, they stand on their feet assisted, and basically ~ they are perfect. I couldn't be happier.
We are excited about this weekend. We are leaving on Saturday to go to Lake Norris, TN with my parents. We will return on Wednesday. We have infant life vests and little boats and cars for the boys to sit in on the Lake. I have all my sunblock and bug repellent (okay'd by the Ped yesterday) already packed! I can't wait. I need some time away... although I am not sure how this will work out. I have never been away from home with the boys. We will have to pack up our entire stock of bottles. And pumping on the boat will probably be a chore. Oh well!Comments:Add a comment:
