Today was our 22w2d weekly appt for ultrasound & cervical measurement (see Ultrasound Photo Album for pictures). Both Twins look perfect! My cervix has shortened approx. 2 mm (from 4 cm to 3.7-3.8 cm)--still considered *very good*. My cervix is "beaking" now. I noticed that there is a black *pocket* from the inside where Twin A is located, and I asked Lori (Ultrasound Nurse I see weekly) what it was. She mentioned it is called "beaking". Nothing to worry about, it can just mean some shortening from the inside.
Slawek is on vacation this week (helping put away all the wonderful Baby Shower gifts we received on Saturday), so he got to go with me to see the Twins today.
Twin A is still lying transverse on his side, kicking my outside. He was lying with both arms over his head in a relaxed position again.
Twin B is still lying on his back, kicking upwards. He was sucking his thumb 1/2 the time!
They both have very strong heartbeats and were extremely active. Lori mentioned how active both babies are. Are we in for a huge surprise with these little ones?? Just kidding, I am glad to see them moving around.
We can't wait to meet them.
Tonight is our 4th Childbirth Education Class. I get to go have Contractions tonight - yippeee! Contractions (pretend) = massage!!!!!!!!Comments:Add a comment:

Today is my 32nd Birthday and my Baby Shower, hosted by my sister Melissa, my mom, and my Grandma. Many thanks go out those 3 wonderful hostesses - as well as the many other family members who helped with bringing food. Slawek and I are so overwhelmed by all the gifts we have received!!
We received: 1 Exer-saucer, 2 High Chairs, 2 Pack n' Plays, 2 Snuggle Bugs comforter/bedding sets (6 pieces), 2 Snuggle Bugs mobiles, 1 Snuggle Bug lamp, 1 Graco Bentley Bear Swing, 2 Single Strollers, 1 Braun Digital Ear Thermometer, 2 Ocean Wonders Bouncy Seats, Gift Certificates to Babies R Us, 2 Winnie the Pooh fuzzy snow-suits, 22 bags of diapers (all sizes), 4 boxes of baby wipes, 1 Diaper Champ disposal system, books on Parenting and baby books with CD, 2 infant hair brushes, 6 newborn hats, 6 Avent pacifiers, 22 bottles (Playtex Ventaire & Avent), 12 breastmilk storage containers (Avent & Medela), 6 Avent sippy magic cups, 3 stuffed bears, 1 photo album/memory book, 3 fleece blankets, 2 towels with hoods, 8 washclothes, 16 baby outfits, 15 body suits, 1 framed artwork called "The Joy of Twins", and 1 nightgown & robe for breastfeeding in the hospital for me.
Slawek's wonderful co-workers were also nice enough to put together a very nice birthday gift basket for me (since I am on bedrest). It contains snacks (chips, granola bars), a Nora Roberts novel, foot salts and massage lotions, among other things. How sweet of them!!
I will post pictures of the shower as soon as I get them back from being developed.
Again - we want to thank all our wonderful friends and family who made our Baby Shower such a special one. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!!!!!!!! We love you, Christine & SlawekComments:Add a comment:

Today was my 21 1/2 week ultrasound & cervical measurement. Both twins look great (see photos in the Ultrasound Photo Album). My cervix is still hanging steady at 4 cm - so the bedrest must be helping. The doctor said I look great and he was pleased to see the steady cervical length.
Tonight is our 3rd Childbirth Ed. Class at Good Samaritan Hospital. I am really enjoying those classes, and have met a few really nice couples that we chat with regularly. It really helps to get an idea of what others go through.Comments:Add a comment:

I am officially pre-registered for Labor & Delivery at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Hospital Care Coordinator called this afternoon and had me pre-register. Also, she scheduled a tour for me and Slawek to view the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at Good Samaritan Hospital. I am a little bit nervous of looking at those poor little newborns in the NICU, but she mentioned that it's better for us to be prepared with what could be the worst-case scenario for our Twins. We agreed and are going on 10/11/04 at 12 noon.

Today I can breathe a *sigh* of relief. Dr. Brady finally completed all my Short Term Disability forms from my employer, Shire US Inc. I just got the phone call from Shire HR letting me know that all my paperwork has been faxed over. Thurs, Fri and today have been spent making phone calls back and forth between Dr. Brady's secretary and my HR department. I'm glad that's over.
Now... what do I do with my time?
I ordered cable today. I tried to order a satellite dish network, but wasn't able to install it due to all the mature trees we have in our yard. So ~ cable it is. No more day-time soap operas for me.
Now I am just looking forward to Wednesday - my weekly Dr.'s appt! It's a good reason to get to go out, eh?Comments:Add a comment:

Slawek felt the babies kicking tonight! I was lying on my side and placed Slawek's hand on the side of my belly. Slawek felt them immediately ~ especially Twin B, who is in my rib cage. I am so happy that he can finally feel them, instead of just me. The kicks were so strong!!

Today was my 20 week Level 2 ultrasound and Perinatology appointment. I am officially on BED-REST. I can't believe yesterday was my very last day of work. My cervix shortened from 5 cm. to 4 cm. due to early contractions, and Dr. Brady doesn't want me to work any longer. I am supposed to stay home and recline with my feet elevated at least 6 hours each day (feet above heart level). This will take the pressure off my cervix altogether.
I am 20 weeks + 2 days pregnant (5 months). However, my belly measures 29 weeks pregnant (over 7 months)! Dr. Brady said that is perfect. I gained 10 lbs. in the last month, putting me at a total weight gain of 30 lbs. now. Again, Dr. Brady said that is perfect for twins at this stage.
The babies look wonderful! Each baby now weighs 14 oz. and they measure over 7" crown-to-rump. The Nurse guessed at the length measurement, because they didn't fit entirely on the screen (too large now). Both twins have doubled their weight since our last Level 2 ultrasound that took place 4 weeks ago.
Both Twins are both very active, kicking me to death! Last night I felt them kick on the outside for the first time with my own hand (I have been feeling them inside since 16 weeks).
The babies are perfect - all limbs, hands and feet are perfect. Neither baby has cleft pallat nor clubbed feet. Both babies were checked for spina bifida markers and downs syndrome markers and neither show any indication of either condition. As I said, they are absolutely perfect.
Twin A's little feet are resting right up against Twin B's poor little head. Bless his/her little heart. Twin A was kicking Twin B! Twin A was yawning during the ultrasound, which was so peaceful and adorable. Twin B was a fiddley baby, kicking and squirming. Twin B also had the hiccups throughout. The Nurse was telling us that hiccups are really good for the baby - hiccups help their lungs mature. I was happy to hear that. I know hiccuping is common for babies in utero.
For now, I am still allowed to attend my weekly childbirth class on Wednesday nights. I also will continue with weekly ultrasounds to measure my cervix.
8 new Ultrasound photos are posted in the Ultrasound Photo Album! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!Comments:Add a comment:

Today Slawek and I attended our first "Moms of Twins" clothing/equipment sale at Notre Dame Academy in N. Kentucky (Thanks Monica). We purchased a few matching twin outfits, and that's really it. The sale had a ton of baby equipment we could have purchased, but we seem to be getting quite a lot of what we need from our Showers! I did sign up to join the Mom of Twins Club, so I can participate in future "pre-sales" and events. They were telling me today that they will even help out with meals and movies when I go on bedrest! How great is that!?!?!

Today was my 19 week ultrasound and cervical measurement. My cervix measured 4 cm. this week (better than last week!) and both babies look perfect! Twin B is ABOVE my belly button! Twin A's head is facing down on top of my cervix. I can't believe I have a baby above my belly button! Both hearts were pumping away very strong. I added new ultrasound photos to the Ultrasound Photo Album (as I do every week!)
Now I am just looking forward to our 20 week Level 2 ultrasound in 1 week, so I can see how the babies weigh and measure.
Tonight, Slawek and I begin our 6-week childbirth education classes at Good Samaritan Hospital.Comments:Add a comment:

Today was my 18 week cervical measurement & ultrasound. My cervix has shortened from 4 cm to 3.5 cm. now (still good, within normal range) The Twins look great! Twin B is extremely active, although I don't feel Twin B very much as this baby is facing my spine (back towards my front) and is very high, at my belly button. Twin A I feel continuously, this baby is dancing on my cervix, very low - where there are more nerve endings. Everything looks great. I have new photos to post!!
I still have cysts on both ovaries, and I keep noticing a lot of pain on my left side. Both ovaries have blood flow going to them, so everything is fine - but I can feel some stabbing pain on my left side all the time.
Last night we ordered all the Nursery furniture. My parents bought our Twins their cribs - Thanks Mom & Dad! Slawek and I bought the changing dresser combo. They will look beautiful in the Nursery. They should be in between 2-6 weeks.
All is well, couldn't be better!Comments:Add a comment:
