CD1 - down-regulation (suppression) phase
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aunt Flo arrived today, so we can proceed w/ scheduling blood work & order meds. We will begin Lupron down-regulation (suppression) injections on CD22 (April 20). Aunt Flo should arrive again between 1-2 weeks after those injections start. The injections will basically shut down all normal function of the ovaries. I called the IVF nurse today to report in and schedule my CD3 bloodwork. We are on our way!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comments:Add a comment:

Our Patient Education Day (03/26/04) 1/2 day seminar was WONDERFUL. We were with several other couples at the same stage as us (some older) with IVF. We watched 4 video presentations on "IVF over the years" and how to give injections and mix medications. While watching the "IVF over the years" video, they showed the very first IVF baby girl from England in 1978. I started crying. I am overly emotional, I guess.
For now, I am just waiting for Aunt Flo (AF) to arrive. Then we can proceed with scheduling the CD3 blood work and order the meds. COME ON AF!Comments:Add a comment:

Looks like we are slated for a May 2004 IVF/ICSI egg retrieval & embryo transfer!! I am back from the IVF trial transfer!
Our 1st IVF Schedule:
* Tomorrow 3/26 is our patient ed course, we will order meds then and go over cycle schedule.
* CD1 (should be March 30) I call to activate IVF cycle #1.
* April 1/CD3, I will have my FSH bloodwork drawn (to test the ovarian reserve).
* April 20/CD22 I will start Lupron injections (suppression phase/down-regulation)).
* Approx April 27/28 my AF is due again.
* Enter stimulation/proliferation phase...
* Egg Retrieval (ER) around Mother's Day!
The RE mentioned the following about my other questions:
* Moderation on diet (have both protein & carbs, but eliminate simple sugars as much as possible).
* Exercise ~ no high-intensity exercise during stims nor post ET.
* No BCP for me ~ I have a regular cycle.
* Endo on right ovary still looks like it is there, but Dr. Scheiber does not want to do laproscopy surgery because he said it can negatively alter the bloodflow to the ovaries ~ and he would rather proceed with IVF/ICSI instead of lap surgery.
Dr. Scheiber said he will only allow us to put back 2 embryos. I was a little bummed about that ~ I was thinking we could put back 3 (with the hopes of 1 or 2). I am 31 and the Dr. said for patients <33, 2 is the maximum. Oh well, Dr. knows best.
Slawek will go for his genetic testing / karotyping 03/26(before our patient ed seminar).Comments:Add a comment:

Slawek and I have both officially completed our first Acupuncture treatments. We loved it! It was very relaxing! I will continue to go twice a week and Slawek will go twice a week until we reach 4 sessions. Then we will taper off to once every week or more. (once we reach the plateau, like the Acupuncturist said). Our Chinese Acupuncturist said he treated 5 women last year with IVF who got pregnant successfully. And just Saturday his latest IVF couple came in to tell him they also were pregnant! IVF success rates nearly double when done in conjunction with Acupuncture. So, Slawek and I are committed!
And now, we are anxiously awaiting our 03/25/04 appt. with Dr. Scheiber (mock trial transfer) IVF intake appt. Dr. Scheiber will evaluate me as to whether we can proceed using this as our 1st IVF attempt, or if I need to have laproscopy surgery first. On 03/26/04 we also have 1/2 day patient education seminar course (regarding injections and medications). Hurry up Thursday!!!!Comments:Add a comment:
